Integrate Literacy, Music and Technology into your classroom.

Using the ORFF SCHULWERK TECHNIQUE to teach children music the teacher will ask the class to simultaneously mirror his/her arm motions watching to see that the class keeps up and is successfull. This progresses to incorporating echo work using the hands for clapping, patchen, snapping, and the feet for stamping. The class is asked to echo in 4/4 and then progress to something that might become syncopated or go round robin.

2018 Mirroring a leaders movement is how humans relate to each other. Though their purpose and function are still largely unknown, mirror neurons in the brain are believed by some neuroscientists to be central to how humans relate to each other. Deficiencies in mirror neurons might also play a role in autism and other disorders affecting social skills. New Duke research appearing March 29 in the journal Scientific Reports suggests mirroring in monkeys is also influenced by social factors, such as proximity to other animals, social hierarchy and competition for food. The Duke team found that when pairs of monkeys interacted during a social task, the brains of both animals showed episodes of high synchronization, in which pools of neurons in each animal's motor cortex tended to fire at the same time. This phenomenon is known as interbrain cortical synchronization.
Po-He Tseng, Sankaranarayani Rajangam, Gary Lehew, Mikhail A. Lebedev, Miguel A. L. Nicolelis. Interbrain cortical synchronization encodes multiple aspects of social interactions in monkey pairs. Scientific Reports, 2018; 8 (1) DOI: 10.1038/s41598-018-22679-x

Teacher is always on the lookout for any child that can't sync with the rest of the kids. If a child can't stay on the beat, end the measure on the beat, start on the beat, or in any way mess it up they are embarrassed. If children are exposed as not being coordinated it lessons their status among the group. It's a true way to help look out for any child that might have learning differences.

During this exercise speech / rhyme can also be incorporated into the body work. All of this is activity is needed for reading readiness skills. Children must listen, find the beat, sync with everyone, and basically be command of their body. Attention is mandatory for success and every child craves body mastery and being in sync. It is our nature.

TECHNOLOGY

Screenagers n.
A demographic group identified by Douglas Rushkoff in his 1996 book Playing the Future. K -12 teachers, and administrators need to learn how to reach the students who learned their ABC's from TV and whose first learning experience comes from cable.

2007 Adults + Teens = Screenagers - switching songs on an MP3 is just as distracting to a driver as, say, dialing a cellphone. Drexel University research team -- led by Dario Salvucci, a computer scientist {1}-- concluded that switching songs on an MP3 player is just as distracting to a driver as, dialing a cellphone.

The Nation's Report Card: Fourth-Grade Reading 2000, released by the US Department of Education on April 6 2001, states that less than one third of the nation's fourth-grade students are proficient at reading.
The results also pointed to a widening gap between the best and worst readers.
