THE WPA

The WPA operated service and arts programs that employed a number of Tennesseans. Adult education classes, public health services, and school lunch programs hired teachers, nurses, and dietitians. In the largest cities the WPA operated women's sewing and canning classes at domestic training centers and employed writers, actors, artists, and musicians in programs in the arts. Young Tennesseans also benefited from New Deal initiatives. The National Youth Administration (NYA) offered vocational classes to young fulltime students and employed many others in part-time jobs. NYA youth built shops and vocational buildings in twenty-three counties and gyms and recreational buildings in thirteen others.

2011 Occupy Wall Street protests:
"I am somewhat sympathetic - that will shock you," Dallas Fed President Richard Fisher told a group of business people in Fort Worth, Texas. "We have too many people out of work. We have a very uneven distribution of income. We have too many people out of work for too long. We have a very frustrated people, and I can understand their frustration."

1936: Highlights Exerpts: I Welcome Their Hatred FDR
For 12 years our Government was see nothing hear nothing, see nothing, do nothing Government.

Extract from famous 1936 speech in Madison square garden. That was 72 years ago...
"For nearly four years you have had an Administration which instead of twirling its thumbs has rolled up its sleeves. We will keep our sleeves rolled up.
We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace -- business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.
They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.
Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for me—and I welcome their hatred.
I should like to have it said of my first Administration that in it the forces of selfishness and of lust for power met their match. I should like to have it said of my second Administration that in it these forces met their master."

In a June 6, 1985 speech at Northside High School in Atlanta, Georgia, then President Ronald Reagan explained that tax loopholes allowing a millionaire to pay lower taxes that a bus driver were "crazy," because they allowed the "truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share": We're going to close the unproductive tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share. In theory, some of those loopholes were understandable, but in practice they sometimes made it possible for millionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying ten percent of his salary, and that's crazy. [...] Do you think the millionaire ought to pay more in taxes than the bus driver or less?

The American Liberty League was the First Tea Party and it started in 1934. The same people behind The American League used their playbook and renamed it the Tea Party which started the same nonsense all over again.

FDR's belief in the use of government as an instrument to help restore the economy and provide the American people with a basic measure of social and economic security was the New Deal.

FDR on the The American Liberty League
On Jan. 3, 1936, in an unprecedented joint session of Congress, when President Roosevelt announced a ban on military exports to fascist Italy, he blasted the American Liberty League:

"They steal the livery of great national ideals to serve discredited special interests…. This minority in business and industry... engage in vast propaganda to spread fear and discord among the people. They would gang up against the people's liberties…. They seek the restoration of their selfish power.….
Our resplendent economic aristocracy does not want to return to that individualism of which they prate, even though the advantages under that system went to the ruthless and the strong. They realize that in 34 months we have built up new instruments of public power. In the hands of a people's government this power is wholesome and proper. But in the hands of political puppets of an economic aristocracy, such power would provide shackles for the liberties of the people. Give them their way and they will take the course of every aristocracy of the past - power for themselves, enslavement for the public."

The American Liberty League

The American Liberty League Bankrolled a speakers' bureau, hosted nation-wide radio shows and launched lawsuits targeting the New Deal's 1935 Wagner Act because it allowed collective bargaining. Created in August 1934, this association of wealthiest corporate leaders said its goals were “to combat radicalism, to teach...respect for the rights of persons and property, and generally to foster free private enterprise.” It attacked government funding for poverty relief and social services and opposed all “burdensome taxes imposed upon industry for unemployment insurance and old age pension.” League news releases were often used verbatim by corporate media that shared the League's anti-democratic values. Between Aug. 1934 and Nov. 1936, the League got 35 favourable, front-page stories in the New York Times. An exception to the anti-FDR media were the Scripps-Howard papers. In Jan. 1936, they ran a story headlined "Liberty League Controlled by Owners of $37,000,000,000." It exposed that League backers directed U.S. Steel, General Motors, Standard Oil, Chase National Bank, Goodyear Tire and the Mutual Life Insurance Co. ~ Skull and Bones

Smedley Butler pretended to go along with the plot and met other members of the conspiracy. In November 1934 Butler began testifying in secret to the Special Committee on Un-American Activities Authorized to Investigate Nazi Propaganda and Certain Other Propaganda Activities (the McCormack-Dickstein Committee). Butler claimed that the American Liberty League was the main organization behind the plot. He added the main backers were the Du Pont family, as well as leaders of U.S. Steel, General Motors, Standard Oil, Chase National Bank, and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.
Butler also named Prescott Bush as one of the conspirators. At the time Bush was along with W. Averell Harriman, E. Roland Harriman and George Herbert Walker, managing partners in Brown Brothers Harriman. Bush was also director of the Harriman Fifteen Corporation. This in turn controlled the Consolidated Silesian Steel Corporation, that owned one-third of a complex of steel-making, coal-mining and zinc-mining activities in Germany and Poland. Friedrich Flick owned the other two-thirds of the operation. Flick was a leading financial supporter of the Nazi Party and in the 1930s donated over seven million marks to the party. A close friend of Heinrich Himmler, Flick also gave the Schutz Staffeinel (SS) 10,000 marks a year.

Watch Out for FAT CAT EducRATS

|FINANCIAL LITERACY|

American EducRATS were Pirates and Profiteers who made their fortunes corruptly, by opium drug smuggling piracy and slavery. They send their kids to private schools. Yale was one of them, and today we still have feeder schools which keep the networks going.

"There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody. You built a factory out there - good for you. But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for. You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate. You were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn't have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory... Now look. You built a factory and it turned into something terrific or a great idea - God Bless! Keep a Big Hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along." - Elizabeth Warren

The Elites Current Strategy
Robbing The Poor by Not Taxing The Rich
Feudalism is the control by an entrenched minority especially for its own benefit : social, political, or economic oligarchy. In Feudal society, the most successful of the feudal merchants went outside of their lord's territory to secretly hide a portion of their profits in foreign lands, mainly to avoid taxation. [1]

Rentier capitalism is a term that can be applied to the "family money" used in Marxism and sociology which refers to a type of capitalism where a large amount of profit-income generated takes the form of property income, received as interest, intellectual property rights, rents, dividends, fees or capital gains. The beneficiaries of this income are a property-owning social class who, it is argued, play no productive role in the economy themselves but who monopolise the access to physical assets, financial assets and technologies. They make money not from producing anything new themselves, but purely from their ownership of property (which provides a claim to a revenue stream) and dealing in that property. Often the term rentier capitalism is used with the connotation that it is a form of parasitism or a decadent form of capitalism.

TAX HAVENS FOR THE OLIGARCHY

The top corporate income tax level in the United States is 35%. In the United Kingdom, it's 28%. But in Ireland, it's only 12.5%, and in Bermuda there's no corporate income tax at all. Multinational companies that shift their earnings through Ireland or Bermuda can save billions of dollars in taxes each year.

OFF SHORE TAX DODGING TECHNIQUES USING SUBSIDARIES

1) shifting or licensing your earnings overseas
2) Your Irish company makes payments to your Dutch subsidiary with no employees, which in turn makes payments to a Bermuda headquartered Irish company with no employees to save hundreds, thousands, millions, or billions in tax deferred profit.

Do we want to have a system where your taxable income has so little relation to where the real-world economic activity takes place and, more broadly, the question it raises about the fairness of the tax system — the result of this is that it shifts the tax burden to the people that don't have the ability to do this, i.e., the 99% of Americans who don't have access to sophisticated tax advisers and also to the companies that are not multinational."

"the Dutch Sandwich"
and
"the Double Irish"

JUST HAVE YOUR LAWYER PUT YOUR FOREIGN PROFIT into accounts in Ireland, the Netherlands and Bermuda using financial techniques called "the Dutch Sandwich" and "the Double Irish" arrangement. Google credits its Irish office with the majority of its non-U.S. sales revenue — and then shuttled that money through various subsidiaries located in Ireland and other countries to save billions in taxes.
Technically, companies aren't avoiding paying U.S. tax when they shift their income abroad, Drucker says. "You're merely deferring it for as long as you keep it outside the U.S.," he says. "These are indefinitely reinvested earnings in your non-U.S. operations. When you bring [earned income] home you're supposed to pay U.S. tax minus a credit for the income taxes you've already paid overseas. But companies have a number of techniques for bringing back profits without paying the tax."
No. 1 is that companies, according to the latest data from the Federal Reserve, are sitting on a record pile of cash — $1.9 trillion. So to the degree the economy is challenged right now, it's not from lack of cash at the disposal of companies. And there's a fair amount of academic research on what happened [after the last tax holiday, in 2004]. And the result is that there was very little hiring and very little investment that went on as a result of the $300 [or so] billion that came back. Most of that money seemed to buy back stock." STEALING 67 BILLION DOLLAS WITH NO FEDERAL OVERSIGHT NO REGULATION NO ACCOUNTABILITY

Private Schools are explored by John Taylor Gatto.

They barely notice how bad the government is at delivering schooling to the rest of the population. But what they do notice is how to transfer money away from the commons and the Department of Education to their own private corporations and how to drive public policy with lobbyists to make laws to own their advantage.

We need greater transparency in government, vigorous enforcement of antitrust rules, efforts to make justice swift and fair. The elite are most likely to do harm when they rely on the coercive power of the state: for example, when they persuade it to grant them special favors. In countries such as America, China and Russia the most influential people devote a disproportionate amount of energy to such rent-seeking.

Our schools remain subject to a failed federal accountability system

Rick Hess / Education Week supports Wisconsin's Governor Scott Walker and noted that the average salary of a Milwaukee public school teacher is $56,500. I wonder what the average salary is for professionals at the American Enterprise Institute which is funded with KOCH MONEY -- where Rick does his thinking and writing.

Gov't Spending Is Not Charity.
It is not optional. It is not voluntary unselfish sacrifice. It is not a choice. It is the obligitory redistribution of tax revenue.
3/18/2010 For an antitax group, they don't know much about taxes. In short, no matter how one slices the data, the Tea Party crowd appears to believe that federal taxes are very considerably higher than they actually are. It's a bad idea for so many participants to operate on the basis of false notions about the burden of federal taxation. It only takes a little bit of time to look at one's tax return to see what one is actually paying the Treasury, calculate the percentage of one's income that goes to taxes, and compare it with what was paid last year and the year before. People may then discover that their anger is misplaced and channel it into areas where it is more likely to bring about positive change. In a Labor Day address in 1980, Ronald Reagan said:
These are the values inspiring those brave workers in Poland … They remind us that where free unions and collective bargaining are forbidden, freedom is lost.

Ironic effects of drawing attention to story errors
Andrea Eslick, Lisa Fazio & Elizabeth Marsh Memory, February 2011, Pages 184-191
Abstract: Readers learn errors embedded in fictional stories and use them to answer later general knowledge questions (Marsh, Meade, & Roediger, 2003). Suggestibility is robust and occurs even when story errors contradict well-known facts. The current study evaluated whether suggestibility is linked to participants' inability to judge story content as correct versus incorrect. Specifically, participants read stories containing correct and misleading information about the world; some information was familiar (making error discovery possible), while some was more obscure. To improve participants' monitoring ability, we highlighted (in red font) a subset of story phrases requiring evaluation; readers no longer needed to find factual information. Rather, they simply needed to evaluate its correctness. Readers were more likely to answer questions with story errors if they were highlighted in red font, even if they contradicted well-known facts. Although highlighting to-be-evaluated information freed cognitive resources for monitoring, an ironic effect occurred: Drawing attention to specific errors increased rather than decreased later suggestibility. Failure to monitor for errors, not failure to identify the information requiring evaluation, leads to suggestibility.

Henry Louis Mencken, said that democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.

K12 Philanthropy that Shapes Education Reform Policy

MORE EDUCATION WON'T HELP

You believe that if "they" — crackpot Tea Partiers, or bleeding-heart liberals — just had the information you had, they'd realize you were right and come over to your side.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Even if your opponent has all the same information as you, they will likely still disagree with you because they filter information through their own biases and world view. We are Unconsciously affected by our group, (whoever they are) and our beliefs. Despite what we think, we do not objectively see what happens around us.

Classic research has suggested that the more people doubt their own beliefs the more, paradoxically, they are inclined to proselytize in favor of them. David Gal and Derek Rucker published a study in Psychological Science in which they presented some research subjects with evidence that undermined their core convictions. The subjects who ere forced to confront the counter evidence went on to more forcefully advocate their original beliefs, thus confirming the earlier findings.

The Truth? Education is not the solution.

Thomas Jefferson defined dictatorship as a country where citizens are afraid of the government, while a country where the government fears its citizens is a democracy.

Bristol Palin's Nonprofit Paid Her Seven Times What It Spent On Actual Teen Pregnancy Prevention 4/7/11

In 2009, Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol joined a teen pregnancy prevention nonprofit called the Candie's Foundation. Today, the Associated Press reported that the Candie's Foundation released its 2009 tax information, revealing that Bristol was paid a salary of $262,500.
But a closer examination of the tax form by ThinkProgress shows that the group disbursed only $35,000 in grants to actual teen pregnancy health and counseling clinics: $25,000 to the Mt. Sinai Adolescent Health Center and $10,000 to the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. View a screenshot of Bristol's exorbitant salary below:
